​​​​​​The focus of this economics subject was to explore the different types of economics. Within that, the assignment was designed to critically analyse disruptive innovation in a knowledge-based economy.
 
The essay question/guideline was:
 
Critically analyse the development and installation of an economically (or socio-economically) significant disruptive innovation.
 
The essay had to:
Provide a concise profile of an economically significant innovation developed relatively recently
Define economic disruption & explain why the innovation at question is disruptive
Discuss public policy
Conclude with a critical reflection of efficacy of the theories at question
 
This is an example of an assignment essay turned speech, which received a 91/100 while the class average was 58.7/100 and median result was 61/100.  This was submitted in 2021.
 
The first point you MUST note is how clear yet complex the ideas discussed are. The writing style is simple, yet captures the fundamental points discussed. For example, the introduction gets right to the point and is absolutely clear, which is the sentiment of the broader assignment too - it's CLEAR that we are addressing each point.
 
The second point you also MUST note is the comparison of the two perspectives. In the essay, we remain quite objective. Our job is not to judge which is better, our job is to consider the pros and cons of EACH. You should NOT overweight the essay to benefits of one perspective in contrast to the other. Take out emotion and compare equally and indifferently.
